The Story of Mission Church

The story of Mission Church stretches back to the early autumn of 1836 when Marcus and Narcissa Whitman crossed into this lovely valley and began a mission: proclaiming Jesus to those who lived here and helping improve their lives. The same gospel call came to Brian & Elisa Hope and their children in the Spring of 2012. They moved to Walla Walla along with two other couples to cultivate and grow what was begun so long ago: proclaim Jesus among the burgeoning culture of Walla Walla and see Jesus transform lives for His glory.

And by His great grace…it’s happening.

The best part of the story of Mission Church, however, is yet to unfold. You see, we are passionately committed to more than just meeting on Sundays with good music and gospel-centered preaching. We are going after something much bigger – to equip and deploy as many gospel proclaimers as possible to this city, this region, and throughout the world; to work with other churches to plant gospel-centered, mission-driven churches wherever we can.

Ephesians 1:23 says that we, the church, are the instrument Jesus uses to fill the world with His fullness. That happens when you catch the vision of God’s call on your life, are gripped by the power of the gospel, trained and equipped to proclaim it, and perceive yourself as sent to where you are…for the grand purpose of King Jesus.

We urge you to no longer settle for a small story…get on the Mission with Jesus.
